When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, That pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends So they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and the sun is warm on their backs. All the animals who have been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who have been maimed are made whole again. They play all day with each other. There is only one thing missing. They are not with their special person who has gone away. So each day they run and play, Until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks into the distance. The bright eyes are intent. The eager body begins to quiver. Suddenly you will see them run from the group, flying over the green grass, To greet their special friend who has just come home from the Rainbow Bridge.

Just this side of heaven is Rainbow Bridge, Where my best friend waits in bright relief For the moments I can join him in this paradise Where fear of death doth cease. Racing strong and healthy through a pristine meadow green, My angel plays among his kind Though I have yet to follow, we’ll return to this spot one day Where I will catch him on the wind. The years of joy will follow once we meet again Joy enough for two after the rot and pain of life Where he healed me with his love and snuggles once or twice We both find peace in the meadows of the land above. Though in the coming years I will stay below the clouds Plagued by constant sorrow and ceaseless longing I will cherish those days I held him close Missing someone already here yet on the other side of Rainbow Bridge.

In the dark night of my soul, I remember the Rainbow Bridge, Where one day – I will find my beloved pet again. Till then, I will grieve for their passing, But I rejoice in the beauty of their soul, That remains alive in my broken heart. I will comfort my own spirit in knowing, That each pet grooms the other beyond any time, Where they play and make merry with the Divine. Yet, while my feet stay here, I will honour them in thought, For I know that the souls of my faithful pets roam free In the meadows of the beautiful Rainbow Bridge.
